Census Bureau: More women than men in Contra Costa County in 2021

Of the 1,161,643 people living in Contra Costa County, California in 2021, 50.8% (590,637) were women and 49.2% (571,006) were men, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained by East Contra Costa News.

Data showed the average age for women in Contra Costa County in 2021 was 41 years, higher than the national average of 40 for women.

According to census data, women aged 18 and over outnumbered men in the same age group by 4,528. Meanwhile, in the 65 and over group, there were 81,823 men and 102,208 women.

Data for this story was compiled from the bureau's American Community Survey. Information from the survey helps to determine how federal and state funds are distributed.
