A Martinez woman has been charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of her daughter, according to an announcement from the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office.

Brittney Evanna Kazee, 36, faces one felony count of murder with a deadly weapon enhancement for allegedly using a knife during the incident. The charge stems from an altercation reported on November 18 at an apartment complex in the 100 block of Fig Tree Lane in Martinez. Police responded to a call about a dispute between two women at approximately 1:40 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers found 19-year-old Shaniyah Kazee unconscious and suffering from a stab wound to her stomach. She was transported to a local hospital but died from her injuries.

Brittney Kazee was arrested at the scene and is currently being held at the Martinez Detention Facility on a $1 million bond. Her arraignment is scheduled for November 24 at 1:30 p.m. in Martinez.

The case is filed under number 01-25-04149 as The People of the State of California v. Brittney Evanna Kazee.
