The Contra Costa County Public Works Department has announced the completion of repairs to Wildcat Canyon Road in the unincorporated Orinda area. The project, which addressed an embankment failure and restored two-way traffic, focused on a 250-foot section between San Pablo Dam Road and Inspiration Point. Repairs included the construction of a soldier pile retaining wall with a safety railing and restoration of the eroded roadway.
Funding for the project came from Federal Emergency Relief Funds as well as Local Road Funds. More information about the project is available on the Contra Costa County website at https://www.contracosta.ca.gov/10335/Wildcat-Canyon-Road-Slope-Failure-Repair.
Warren Lai, Public Works Director for Contra Costa County, stated: “We’re proud to announce the successful completion of the Wildcat Canyon Road Slope Failure Repair Project. We recognized the importance of repairing this critical connector between the El Sobrante and Orinda communities with Berkeley and Tilden Regional Park areas.
