Emergency road work is scheduled to take place on Bethel Island Road near Canal Road, according to the Contra Costa County Public Works Department. The repairs will begin on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, and are expected to continue through Monday, January 12, 2026. Work hours are set from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays and dependent on weather conditions.
Traffic control measures will be put in place to ensure the safety of drivers and cyclists passing through the area. Electronic message boards will provide updates about the ongoing work. A temporary lane closure is planned, which may result in delays of up to 45 minutes for road users.
The Contra Costa County Public Works Department oversees maintenance and operations for more than 650 miles of roads, nearly 80 miles of streams and channels, and over 150 county buildings. The department also manages parks and recreation services, sandbag distribution, flood control efforts, road and facility upkeep, storm water management, as well as two airports: Buchanan Field Airport in Concord and Byron Airport in Byron.
