Contra Costa Animal Services (CCAS) has announced a partnership with the Bissell Pet Foundation to offer free pet adoptions during the first half of December. The initiative, which runs from December 1 to December 15, aims to encourage more community members to adopt pets by removing adoption fees. However, adopters may still be required to pay a $25 licensing fee.

“CCAS and the Bissell Pet Foundation are teaming up to bring you free adoptions in December. From December 1-15, all adoptions will be free of charge. A $25 licensing fee may apply,” according to the announcement.

Those interested in adopting can view available animals on the organization’s website.

The effort is part of ongoing collaborations between animal services organizations and nonprofit foundations that seek to reduce shelter populations and promote animal welfare.
